Hello again all! If ya haven't read my other posts, here's the deal....we just bought a 96SE, and it has about 95k miles on it. I'm BIG on keeping the oil changed in my stuff, and I just wanted to know what you guys would recommend as far as oil type/brand that would be best for this car with these miles. It's all stock for now, and will never be 'very' modified. I use mobile one in my maxima and in my tahoe. Would this be the best bet for out 240? Surely synthetic oils are a little better.....hhmmmm....I wonder if their prices will skyrocket here soon too? Thanks for any info....

Anything but Pennzoil and Quaker State. I use Castrol GTX 20W50 in the summer and 10W30 in the Winter.

Here are some links to help you decide on oil and filters. Oh yeah, Fram sucks hardcore, don't use Fram.

Oil FIlter Study More than you ever wanted to know about motor oil.

I use Mobil 1 15W50 in the summer(which is the only time the cars driven). I pretty much only use Mobil 1 products.

Read that link I posted above and make the decision on your own. There really is no "right" oil brand to use.

Service manual recommends 5w-30 for all seasons, and 10w-30 if it never gets too cold, but with higher mileage, 10w-30 or 10w-40's okay. I use it all year round. Synthetic will alway out perform conventional.

I switched from Mobil 1 to Castrol Syntec since they offer a 10w-40.

ina96se, I don't think sythetic oils will go up in price since they are synthetic, as in man made, and does not contain petroleum.

Search for "Oil" by user PalmerWMD, but first make a sandwich. He is the NICO oil/petroleum based products guru.
