Ok, we all know the oil pickup sits very close to the oil pan on SRs and a very small dent in the pan starrves the motor. So i just fixed a dent but i was thinking it would be a good idea to trim part of the pickup shield off.this would give more clearance from teh bottom of the pan. Would there be any adverse affects of trimming the shield off the pickup? thanks very much.

oil will slosh away from the pickup under hard acceleration and deceleration if you trim it too much, essentially negating the effect you were looking for.

thanks supafly, i decided to not trim it, but i am going to put a spacer between the oil pan and block. Then use more oil.

They trim the opening a little bit in some of the Japanese mags I have but just a little bit.

damn, i should've done that. oh well, i hammered it, and put it back and it runs good again. I am going to put a spacer though.
