Oil pan/ Timing chain Help

Hey all,I need a help with the timing chain... Does the pan have to come off the get the front cover off? If so how the Frik do you get it out to put the gasket sealer on?

The darn lower chain cover seems to still be connected to?

theres many write ups on timing chain installs just search for them. also should be one in the faqs section. unfortunately theres no easy answer to the oil pan question.

btw you dont need a gasket just rtv.

im doing a timing chain right now on my 89 and it is a lot of work if you want it to be done "right" you should drop the oilpand and replace the oil pan gasket durring this process.

I believe it should be the same if your doing a dual cam chain but im not 100% sure.

I just got done doing the timing on my 89 need to raise the car loosen one motor mount raise engine till pan slides out make sure you are carefull when removing pick up tube are you will damage the screen i had to take down tube to remove pan most important be extra carefull when removing from head

yeah, that question is too vague (puls i just skimmed it) if you have the motor out you should remove every thing and re-gasket all of that stuff to ensure a complete and total oil seal the first time.
