I'm doing the same thing soon, couple questions:
1) An engine crane would be counter productive right since I think they old the engine from the very bottom (I could be wrong, never used a crane before.
2) What do you mean by removing engine mounts? Is that safe/necessary? Would I be able to pop in new mounts at the same time safely - that will save a lot of time

Ok, so here's how the install seems:
-Jack up car-put on jack stands (4)-drain oil-Jack up engine through transmission (anyone got a pic of where to jack?)
-Start removing oil panor-Start loosening/removing mounts then remove oil pan
Seems simple enough? except that whole part where an engine may start come crashing down on me, haha.
