Oil pan ?'s

Does the CA18de have the same pan as the DET? I pulled my motor last night and the pan had been hit on the botton. Oh, and how close does the oil pickup sit to the bottom of the pan?

No, the CA18DE has a different pan internally. Show us a pic of your oil pan. A little dent at the bottom won't hurt the engine.

CAs aren't little sissies like SRs where looking at the oil pan funny makes it spin bearings... both of mine are kinda bashed up, but they seam similarly constructed to my KA24E oil pan in that they're big, tough, and ... ugly, but functional. I'm not even gonna worry about banging out either pan, they're only dented around the oil drain..

All mine are dented and I haven't touched them. Haven't spun a bearing yet!

OK, well I'm gunna pull the pan tonight or tomorrow night so I'll find out then. But, how close does the pick up sit to the bottom. Cuz the entire bottom has been shoved up, looks like about an inch. So I hope the pickup isnt ruined.

Is your engine out of the car? If so, wouldn't hurt to remove it and try and do some straightening out.

mines also bashed in and it wasnt touching the pickup at all.

i had alot of hair on my pick up screen though :scratches head:
