Oil pan removal and engine mounts.

This is for a ka24e I was wondering what way you pulled the oil pan, because they were telling me to pull the pick-up tube and lift the engine to remove the pan is this correct? I was just wondering what alot of you guys did and to see if this was the correct way. My other question is about the motor mounts. Is there a way to tell the difference between the left and right mount? Thanks
