I searched and coudln't find an answer. What can I use for an oil pan gasket for my redtop? Can i use a DE oil pan gasket? Or just use silicone? What type of silicone is best then? Any help would be greatly appreciated

There is no OEM oil pan gasket. Use that gasket maker stuff that can be found at any auto parts store. I like the black kind.

used the high temp red from a local store. if you do it right, it's a ***** to take off once it's dry.

Use the red silicon and I would let it dry for about 24 hours.

i actually bought a roll of gasket material (cork) and used HI temp silicone RTV. I let it sit for 2 hours before putting in any oil.

yeah definitely use the high temp red stuff...and go to walmart get a razorblade....easy as pie...and if you really want to get it all use a small wire brush. Nothing hefty just a small one little bigger than a toothbrush ...also at walmart.

i am talking about getting the pan off while it is still on the motor. not sure if you meant cleaning old liquid gasket off while you have the pan off. but ive tried using razor blades, other cutting instruments, putty knife, screwdriver, etc etc and i cant get the damn thing off.

Get a wide spade punch and tap it in slowly. Once you get part of it in use it to pry the pan.

Carb cleaner does pretty well at denaturing the silicon gasket maker.
