I can't imagine how you have the lower oil pan gasket if Nissan never made a lower oil pan gasket. The service manual calls for RTV (silicon gasket maker).

if you dont have a robot like the OEMs do to uniformly & precisely apply the RTV to have an RTV only gasket, id recommend a formed aftermarket gasket. provided you really do need to replace the factory RTV joint...

not saying it cant be done, just sayin im pretty sure they make'em & i doubt its more than 10-15 bucks

less chance for leaks, not much more expensive, waaay easier

You're speaking hypothetically of course because in reality any r-tard could make a gasket with RTV sealant. I've removed and installed about 15 350Z oil pans and used RTV per the manufacturers service manual on every one of them and never had any issue. There is no "less chance of a leak" with a hypothetical formed gasket which I have never heard of because it doesn't take a master mechanic to lay a bead of RTV that won't leak.

Work on your car much?

not much on the z because theres been no need to, but ive replaced my fair share of oil/trans pans and im just sayin for the price, itd be easier... if the guys asking about gaskets, im assuming hes not messed with them much, so for someone whoes doin it for the first time vs. someone such as your self with much more build experience, id say go with the formed gasket...

no need to be a prick about it dude

If OP can't make an RTV gasket he shouldn't be under his car.
