For someone roadracing with slicks do you think I may need them to help prevent starvation? Has anyone ever welded some into a ka pan, if so what was your design?

oil pan baffles are not necessary on those engine, maybe run with a little extra oil in the engine, but the pan is small width wise and the oil has nowhere to go, on a longitudinally mounted engine the oil can slosh back and fourth alot, like on hondas, and any FWD car really. You have nothing to worry about.

Are the KA pans steel?

I made my own for the VG racer. It is low budget and ghetto, but I am not spending money on some high dollar pan. I made the kickouts out of steel from lowes. Just made square boxes. I used small door hinges for the trap doors. Welded the holes shut and welded the hinges to the sides of the stock pan where the kickouts were added. I used a spot weld on the hinge itself so it would only open up towards the oil pickup.Worked great when filled with water and tilted side to side. Thats all the testing I did.The car weighs 1700pounds and has 10 inch slicks so it pulls some g's in the corners.

SR20goofus see you this weekend at VIR?I am in the ugly mini stock car looking thing in the stinger group.

I should be at the march event as long as the new used junk yard engine stays together and I don't hurt the car.

Good luck on your cage install.

Do you plan to move from hpde into the race group?

Yes I agree, nothing will help you pick up more speed than racing.Getting some help from a racer will be the next best thing.

I know exactly what you are saying with instructing being cheap.I have been instructing with NASA sence version 1.0 of NASA MA. Easy???I don't know, I lost my nerve I guess. 2 kids will do that.FWD low HP cars are the only ones I will sit shot gun in now.

Just wanted to give an update on the ghetto oil pan baffles made on the VG racer. GREAT!!!!The water testing proved well.Track test showed no drop in oil pressure as previously experienced without the ghetto baffles. You really can make a pan work for 20 bucks at lowes.

sr20g... hey signed up for March at VIR come by Sat. White Dodge Durango with ugly black stock car want to be #59I am normally around the SE-R guys.
