oil pan and timing cover

ok guys, do I have to remove the oil pan to get to the timing cover. because one book says to, but the other dosn't. And it seems like I can get to the bolts fine, that are attached to the timing cover. So if anyones ever done it before, just let me know. oh by the way its a ka24e

I don't beleive you have to take it off, but you have to loosen it.

On the DE you have to pretty much take it off, but on the E I do not beleive you do.
