Ok I have a Redtop SR and there is oil coming from my BOV. I have never heard of this before and I couldn't find anything on it. Do you think it could be a bad o-ring on the turbo or somthing. All help is appreciated thanks.

most likely its the turbo seal. Maybe u might get lucky and its the turbo sucking the oil from the pcv system. This happen to me but the oil was leaking from the intake pipe before the turbo. Catch can fix that problem.

Its just a little oil residue right? like buildup/ sludge kind of thing? your bov is not dripping oil or blowing loads of oil out correct? its probably just blow by mine does it and a lot of sr's do im surprised nobody else chimed in saying that.

First off, having oil in your intercooler piping is not normal, and not good. Oil will trap heat in, and generally make a mess of your IC system. Your intercooler will begin to work less efficiently if oils coating the rails.

One of two things has happened. Either your oil ring on the compressor side of the turbo has failed, or your PCV system is sucking up oil into the intake. If its just your PCV system, add a catch can. If its your turbo, you need to either get a rebuild done or buy a new turbo. Might be time to upgrade.

^this is true, but some minimal blow-by is expected in a turbo'd engine. In larger amounts, it is usually an issue of bad turbo seal or the PVC system. As for oil on the IC and piping, this will happen. That is why you have to have the IC cleaned periodically. Kind of like dipping an old, used radiator that still holds pressure, but has years of gunk built up in it.

Had the same problem too. Due to blowby and no oil catch can. Blowby went straight into the intake pipe, into the turbo, and intercooler. Catch can fixed the problem.

so i think were talking about 2 diff issues here,blo-by and turbo seals i think i have a combo of both because after last summer my ic was really gunked but but i didnt notice any smoke or lack of boost , but i did clean all the pipes and had the ic boiled bolted back up and the car feels very strong, still gonna try a catch can though good luck to all...

I just got an s14 motor with an s15 turbo. The inlet on the compressor side has this residue, but the intercooler piping and the cold air blower side are clean, does this sound like what you are talking about. Because the residue is before the turbo and not after I think its buildup from a not so clean induction filter. The turbo seems fine, no leaks on the exhaust side, very minimal shaft play. Spins freely by hand, it just has some junk on it.

Here's a picture (sorry for the cell phone pic), You can't really see how much is there but there is oil dripping from it and it sprays on my intake piping.

Edit* And is this a recirculated BOV? i'm not sure

recirculated BOV??? dude that is atmospheric. recirculated is when you dump your bov back into the intake on your turbo lol.

looks like a blitz DD bov, which as some others said is atmospheric. If its "spraying" from the BOV this is definetly not a good sign. It might be time for a turbo upgrade =)

You sir are dumb, I posted a bunch of BS?, No I told you to search and you started freaking out cussing and all that, I posted a 'search' link, then, after that, I posted like 4 things that should of helped you and you didn't even bother to open them, You just thought I was putting more 'search' links there, So you started freaking out even more and cursing more, then it got locked, then I searched for like an hour on how to get ahold of the guy who locked it, (i found him on another website) and told him the links I posted were helpful, So he unlocked it an you got the help you needed.

soooo,

what is the condition of your turbo? Im interested in this, because the s15 turbo on my sr is supposed to have fairly low miles @ about 10k. and 10 psi.

Your best bet at this point is disassemble from the turbo out. Remove the turbo, IC Piping and Intake piping. Check all those for build up, clean it out. While everythings out check out the turbo. Like others said its probably a blown seal but with everything out you'll have a much better idea and there wont be any more guessing. Its a fairly straight forward removal also.
