The reason they have entire divisions for taxes is because our corporate tax system is bass-ackwards. At the end of the day, we've got the lowest effective rates, but you need an army of accountants and tax lawyers to get through the deductions that get you away from the absurdly high facial rate.

That has nothing to do with the amount of taxes they pay and everything to do with the mess of a tax code that we have.

And really, if they want to open up their books and show us their tax expenditures, I'll consider the claims a bit more reliable. That it comes from the company's own PR publication, written by someone who's paid by the company, in the form of an opinion piece means my skeptometer is about to explode.
