Here is the deal. I have a kit with tons of SS fittings and I'm sure I'll have what I need but...

What parts do I need for oil lines and what type of line should I use?

I've seen the SS braided which looks like the best. Does this come in set lengths with fittings on the ends or what? Is there a standard hose that is safe that can be clamped? I guess guys use a -3an for the feed and like a -10an for the drain. Also, Do I need a restrictor?

Or would I be ahead just buying the lines from JGS or something?

The different fitting sizes are in the sticky. The Stainless lines, like earl's, work kind of like AN fittings (I think). But I think you have to buy a roll, which is pricey, you will be better off getting a kit. Or I will be following the sticky to the T. But thats because it is cheap, blue, and matches my underhood scheme.

Thanks, I totaly overlooked that. They should change the name of that thread to Master Sticky Folder or something.

Anyway, I guess I just order one of everything on the list. Oddly, they didn't have info for the drain line. Would you know where I can find that?

You can do it if you find some steel pipe nipples. That is what I want to do. Then with a piece of sheet metal I will make a crude flange and weld it to a nipple, weld the other to the pan and get some oil safe hose for the transfer. Napa has it all the way up to an inch and a half.

At this point I'm thinking a kit with all the proper parts & flanges might be the way to go. Plus, I'm not too comfortable using aluminum fittings or omiting flanges in such a critical area. Perhaps my knowing an automotive engineer is what makes me leery of changing things that seem intentional. Those guys are no idiots, and since every turbo is designed with flanges, that's what I'm using. Also, I could be wrong, but I doubt they would recommend using aluminuim fittings.

Perhaps I'll just e-mail JGS or someone and ask them to send what I need.

Can anybody recomend a good sorce that uses proper flanges for both feed and drain and doesn't use aluminum:?

What aluminum? You can always get them machined.

WD you didn't have to go to all that trouble, it was just an off the cuff comment.
