I installed my coilovers today and set it too low initially. After 1/2 mile down the road I noticed that something smelled like it was burning. I immediately stopped and went to check it out. I took a look and found out that the tire ran through the sheathing on 4 of the wires. I also noticed that my oil light came on. I immediately shut my car off and checking for any leaks. I found nothing. I then checked to see if my oil levels were normal, which they were. I then turned around and drove it back to my garage to raise the coilovers and fix the wires (temporarily wrapped the exposed wires with electrical tape). In any case, I re-wrapped most of the wires for now and tucked the harness further up. It seemed to fix the problem. However, the oil light is still on. Which lead me to think that maybe the oil light for the dash goes through that harness. Is that right? I know for a fact that I do not have any oil leaks AT ALL, and checked the oil 4-5 times throughout the day. All normal. Also, the engine had a rebuild around 10,000 miles ago so I know for a fact that it is not leaking. Anyway, I was just wondering if any of you guys know whether or not that the dash oil light runs through that harness? Sorry for the long winded explanation.

Thanks.

Check oil pressure.

If OK....you shorted something.

FSM EL section will show you where the wire goes too, it does go to the oil sensor.

unplug batt. and reset ECU and see again. Also check that sensor connection, right by the alternator.

Thanks guys. I found out that it may just be a short. I got in the car at night and turned on the lights and noticed that the oil light goes off when I turn the lights on. Now I just have to find time to get up under it and fix those wires for good. Thanks for the advice.

The same thing happened to me. Its a big chunk of wires that mostly go to the engine and front end. I rubbed thru my washer fluid pump, my ignition wire and like 3 other ones. I just raised it. Be sure to compinsate for bounce and weight to
