99.5 pathfinder le 4wd, 150k

Driving home last weekend the oil light comes on a few miles from home. I say f*** it, we're really close to home, it's 2 am, and both my kids are asleep in the back seat. I get home, the trucks chugging away like a locomotive. Pop the hood, check the oil level, it's not low, not leaking and not smoking. Dammit, has to be the oil pump. I park it and haven't ran it since. Its not knocking or making any other strange noises..

So what am I looking at price wise? The pumps about $150....but labor? Any other possibilities besides the pump?I just replaced the radiator about 2 months ago and now this..... Its driven like a champ since we got it and has never had any problems besides the broken radiator(whole other story).

Any advice appreciated.

The oil pump went on mine when I had it. I wasn't as lucky as you though I threw a rod.

What brand oil filter are you using?

Its got a fram on there. I just recently swapped all the fluids when the radiator went, so its got fresh oil in it. I just hope the engine isnt toasted....

I had a Fram on mine when it went out. Since then though, I found out that the filters collapse on themselves on the inside. On mine it did at least.

Omg, after reading the previous post I took a chance this morning threw in a new filter n oil and now it's running perfect. I drove it around to get the pressure up no oil light. I did drain almost a gallon and a half of oil, WTF? The dealer that did the radiator swap must have over filled it. It also had some cheap no brand filter on it.

Makes even more sense what tjcars said about the filter collapsing. I could have had some serious engine damage..

If only I knew then what I knew now. I'd still have my Pathfinder. O well, at least I helped you out. Glad it's running good.
