Ive got a POS 97 I30 and twice now the oil light has come on and then gone off. The car has oil. I checked. Several times. Do the pumps go bad? Do the blocks have a problem with blockages? Do the sensors go bad? I restore little British cars for a living and know all about the horrors of low oil pressure first hand so I'd rather get this resolved quickly.

Check the oil pressure sensor plug and wire for connection. I use BWD Intermotor sensors that I get from Advance Auto using the TRT30 online discount code for 30% off and specify in store pickup. Here's a picture from when I changed the sensor. The sensor on the left. As you know from working on British cars, if you decide to run an oil pressure test, be sure to check for BSPT sensor threads. I use small amount of teflon tape on sensor threads when I do a replacement.

Does the light just flash when you turn on the car? Mine does that all the time, I think it's pretty common. Like OwnerCS said, check the sensor and wires going to it. If it's going on while driving, that's potential more worrisome.
