I'm wondering too.... 1/2 hour labor. Only thing that befuddles me more is how it was loose. I'm hella-sorry there Jesda. I honestly cranked on that sucker like ya wouldn't believe. Oh well. Guess all is well now... except the pan drop should still be done. Did you see what was used to hold the crank pulley when they did it? If there's something better than a large strap wrench, I'd love to know.

Oh, just re-read your post about what they did. Did they say how loose the bolt was? Also, what is the engine flush they do? If it involves possibly loosening up bits that were in the oil pickup screen, I gotta wonder if maybe that was the problem still. Not saying that it wasn't up to torque spec but since they did three jobs at once (although oil change wouldn't count as possible fix unless the oil flowing out of the pan happened to carry some bits with it) I wonder if maybe the "engine flush" had more to do with the oil light going out than the retorque.

I agree with Q45 tech to have your hot oil press checked. I'm not too worried about worn bearings since there was some oil supply... Briggs&Stratton motors don't even have oil pumps at all. In fact, it's been said that the only reason we have oil pumps in our cars is to get oil up to the valvetrain and for cooling purposes. The main reason I agree to have it checked is I'm skeptical that the reason for the oil light was because of guide pieces in the pickup screen and the engine flush thingy may have removed/loosened enough bits to make the oil light go out but still not be flowing oil to the pump like it should.

I agree. Im on vacation now (Im visiting NICO at a kiosk at a Salt Lake City airport) and so the Q will be parked until the middle of July.

They said the bolt was only finger tight, and with my liking for WOT that could have been it. The engine flush could have done the trick too.

When I get back to town, I'll take the Q back to Bommarito for a pressure check. They quoted me about $650 to drop the oil pan -- not bad at all for a local dealer.

All is well! :D

Thanks,-Jesda

Also, it was a Bilstein machine flush.

Maybe I'm not seeing something obvious, but I don't see how it could only be finger tight after I cranked on it so hard. I guess it COULD be possible, nothing's ever 100% sure. Maybe something hung up like a sprocket on the crank and the bolt tightened against it but finally just gave way the tiniest thousanth of an inch and let it go loose... heck, I dunno. Oh well. Good to hear it's going well again though. I think with the pan drop and new rack bushings you should be set. Ok, who'm I kidding, there's always stuff to fix.
