I drive an 1989 Nissan 240sx fastback. So I have the ka24e. I just replaced the timming chain with one from NAPA. get every thing put back together and now when she is at idle i get an oil light, thet if I give it some gas the oil light goes away. hope I gave you enough info. any info on what the problem could be would be nice.

I tried searching and most of them were eletrical and the way mine is acting I think it may be the oil pump. But I dunno. I primed the pump about half full with oil(thats all that would stay in the pump during instal)

You need to get an actual oil pressure gauge on there and see if your oil pressure is really low. I wouldnt recommend running the car till you figure this out as it could be doing damage to the engine internally.

Where the oil sender is now. you pull the sender out and screw in the gauge. You want to use the a test gauge. not a gauge you use in the dash. Test gauges are more accurate.

Do you think a very leaky timmimg chain cover would cause this? I talking about almost a 1/2 a quart to a quart was on the ground where I was starting it. I have pulled the cover and throughly scraped and resealed the cover today, and figured while the battry charges I would see what you think.

Yes as a main oil galley runs between the cover and the block. There is an oring there ,if that oring is damaged or missing it will puke oil out.

Is the oring the flat metal piece with a opening in it that extends into the block with an orange gasket piece around it?
