oil light and knocking

hey, im new here and I may or may not have a big problem with my engine...I have a 90 240sx with a KA24DE in it. Ive checked the oil level and its fine, but when i start the car the oil light turns on and the engine knocks as if theres not enough oil. after i start driving the light turns off and the knocking stops, but when i get to a red light or stop and it idles it starts again. im thinking its the oil pump but im not really sure

Throw some 15W40 in there and see how it runs.

damn it. thanks, ill have to try it. if i end up having to do an engine swap, ill have to do it without the girlfriend finding out how much money ill be spending

I don't get it, why can't the girlfriend find out how much money you could possibly spend on a engine swap ?

We are talkin like $200 and of course a few hours work for another stock KA. No biggie

she wanted me to get rid of it and buy a new car, she doesnt understand anything about cars. she thinks since its old its no good

Sounds like you should think about replacing the girlfriend along with that engine.
