i just recently bought a 90 240 se with an auto. yes it has the aiv unfortunately...however..the previous owner had removed all the duct work and hoses from the aiv and moved the battery to that position..and ran a 90* bend with a filter on it from the tb..homemade cai im guessing..the only thing im wondering..the actual aiv unit itself is still there, and it has a little black hose coming out the front of it...and it drips out a little oil..and when i plug the hose, smoke comes out the exhaust.is there a solution to this----and in the near future (6-8 months ) i will be purchasing a SR and will this affect this?

there won't be any problems in reference to this when you switch in the sr20 since you will be swapping in a new engine. You may want to look into what affects the battery placement may have on the installation as you will have a lot more room taken up by the turbo, different exhaust manifold and whatnot.

I had problems recently with oil dripping out my aiv and it was due to a bad vacuum seal (i think) when in turn led to my head gasket blowing.

I'm currently replacing it right now... but just letting you know what happened when i found oil in my air duct

so where is this bad vacuum seal located?where can i go to get a replacement?would advanced auto carry it?

im not worried about the battery location just right now..since it will be moved to the trunk anyways.
