I seem to have an oil leak in the oil filter assembly. After idling in the same spot of 15 mins or so, it leaves an oil spot about the size of a silver dollar. i read an old post where slw240sx mentioned the same problem, and possibly getting an o-ring from nissan. I couldn't find a post that told whether he ever fixed it or not. Is it just a standard size o-ring? I'm going to be working on the car tomorrow anyways (installing Tein HE's, witing turbo timer, etc), so I'd like to take care of it then. Also, I'm running redline 20w50 oil, and that stuff is expensive...I can't afford to dump it on the ground.

jon's problem is with his oil cooler I think, do you have an oil cooler down there? If not, try and figure out where exactly the oil is coming from. There is a gasket between the filter hub (where it screws onto) and the block. I suppose that could be leaking. There are also afew oil breather hoses down there, but I doubt they could leak enough oil to make a visible leak after afew minutes:)

stupid question: the metal pipe coming off the back of the intake side valve cover (the one the angles sharply down), is supposed to connect to the fat rubber line coming out of the back side of the oil filter assembly under the intake manifold, right? Thanks to Venus, almost all my rubber lines were disconnected or cut when I got the motor. I just want to make sure I have this set up right.

ok, cool. Is that rubber line supposed to have a one-way valve or restrictor or anything in it?

not that I remember... the pcv valve is a one way valve I think, but its coming out of the back of your intake manifold, not the valve cover itself.

Check your oil pressure sensor. It's right next to the filter. Mine leaks there. It's actually coming through the wires though and not the threads so I'm going to have to buy a new one, which is why I haven't fixed it yet.

The oil pressure sender is gone, replaced with a fitting and braided SS line. That's not leaking, I've checked it several times.

no, the light doesn't come on at all. I have an Autometer mechanical oil pressure gauge.
