Ok, so i was going to change my oil the other day when i realized i had an oil leak. ;( So the only day i have free is saturday so i decided to take it to "Valvoline". They told me my front and rear main seal had a leak and so did my engine. they told me it would be about 500 - 1000 to get it pluged. Does that seem right?

also im going to get a new engin this summer ( sr20 ). would I still need to get the seals replaced if i got a new engine? where are the seals located?

Thanks,

let us know what engine yu have and what model car.its pretty common for the front seal to go out on some nissan motors, especially if the belts are overtightend.cant imagine both seals going out at same time. if you are going to buy a new engine i wouldnt worry about the leaks on the old one.however yu sound like yu dont know a lot about your car. do some research and learn some things, so when yu go to have the new engine put in in yu dont get totally screwed. if yu actully want to find out where the oil is leaking from, jc whitney has a ultraviolent leak detection kit for roun 75 bucks. you put the dye in the oil and then chek it with the black light. very effecient.let us know what yu do!

He has a GA16.

If the leak is slow, just keep tabs on your oil level til you replace the engine.

I know this sounds far fetched but there is an Additive called Re-Seal. & has worked on leaks from seals that are Just seeping from being alittle Stiff, not Cut. Also Check the Rocker cover gasket, i've seen them leak from behind & make Look like a leak from Somwhere else. And Most of All DO Not Over Fill! They Only take About 3.5 quarts with a Filter Change.
