I have an oil leak on the passenger side rear of engine. It drips on the head shield of the exhaust manifold as well as a quarter size spot on the floor. I replace the valve cover gasket and it no longer leaves a spot on the floor but the spot is still forming on the heat shield and makes a fairly strong oil burning smell. Is there anything else in that area that can leak? I is an 02 pf with 2wd auto.

I read a thread on that issue and unfortunately it was highly recommended that the valve covers themselves need to be replaced as well. I have an 04 Pathy with 250k on it and I am dreading the detailed work and expense of doing this. Question, are your valve covers plastic? if so YEP need to replace them because of the seal around the sparkplug holes, there are gaskets that if you try to replace them you stand a chance of damaging the valve cover, so I read.
