Hey guys. I got an '04 G35 sedan 6MT with ~60k mi. It started dying in the middle of the road about a month ago. Got it diagnosed...bad alternator. I got my hands greasy and replaced the alternator. But a month later the new alternator was dead, too!

Turns out an oil leak is dripping into the alternator and frying it. I had always noticed a little oil under the car but kind of ignored it. Anybody seen this before? Where was the oil coming from if it's ever happened to you? Any ideas/help much appreciated!

(I posted this in the G35 section but realized it probably belongs here.) Thanks.

Since you replaced alternator I assume you are beyond 4 yr/60k warranty.

Only use Nissan remans as the discount store units rarely last beyond 12 months [if they make it a week] even without oil leaks.

Isnt the powertrain warranty 6 years/70,000 miles? Infiniti should pay for alternator and oil leak repair.

My Grandfather always had a quote for everything.

This one may apply.

For the want of a shoe, the horse(power) was lost.
