I was driving home last night from a concert and a drove over this garbage can lid in the midddle of the street; obviously not seeing it till i hit it. I was kinda pissed and then I drove over to my friends to adjust my idle. When I start leaving my friend yells and says my oils leaking. Now 2 mo. ago I resealed my oil pan, and its been running beautifull since. I was fairly pissed if my oil pan was leaking, but it seems to be coming from a higher source. I got up early this morning to figure this thing out and no leak(except for some coolaint coming from God knows where). So i driev it back over to my friends to see if the spill is coolant, and its oil. I drove over there shifting cautiously at 2-3000rpms. I let my car idle and look underneath and no leak,(coolant or oil). Wierd stuff, then I leave and I try revving up to 5-6k on the way home.(lately i've been doing this a lot). I park and theres that damn leak again! And when its leaking, its in fairly constant drops, not small! Any help would be great! Thanks guys.-Galen

I suspect after doing your pan reseal you cleaned the engine to be sure all leaks were taken care of. so if you have a leak you should be able to jack it up crawl under it with a light and see where its coming from. since the rest of the engine was cleaned 2 months ago it should be easy to spot.

I dont think its the valve cover. I'm leaning toward crank seal(underside, cause I cant see it. Gonna buy a jack tommorow) or oil filter mount seal. Any help on how to fix these seals would be great!Thanks!-Galen

i'm not sure what you mean by oil filter mount seal. Is the oil dripping by the trans? if your able to see it.

yea the pan is easier to take off than put on without messing up the rtv. but check to see what side of the engine its coming from. fron would be front main seal or timing cover. rear would be rear main seal but i dont know if it would leak out like u said. do u have a 5spd? cuz a rear main seal leak i heard would make ur cltuch slip really bad. intake side of the engine could be oil filter seal maybe or oil pressure sensor leaking. the other side of the engine doesnt have anything to leak

well sob. I jacked up the car today and cleaned up all the oil. I let it idle till it was warm and at a solid 750rpms...then came the high rpm test. I did a few 5500-6000 rpm runs and a steady 4k. NO OIL LEAK AT ALL! wtf? =). Its kinda good, but Im afraid its gonna keep happening on and off. I checked around the oil filter and there isnt much oil at all. It's mainly around the oil pan and crank pulley, and I think theres some behind the trranny but that just might be really shiny grease(I have a lot of that under the car, but it always has). However, before I did the rpm tests I figured that last time my friend put the oil pan, he put it to "guessed" torque, however he's super intelligent w/ mechanics of car so i figured it would work, and it did. But I bought a trq wrench yesterday($45...jeeze la weez) and decided I might as well torque em up to spec incase they were loose or something. Well I failed to read the 5-80lb trq range and tried adjusting it to 3.651(measuring less than 5), but I didnt realize that it would only work above 5; i figured the markings just started at 5 as a basic place to start. Anyways, I kept tightening it, and it felt loose, so I took my wrench off and out came the top half of the bolt. Man that sucked. However the other what, 15, are still on there so it hsouldnt be falling off anytime soon. I'm bringing it into a shop wed. for a whole bunch of stuff...how much does EZ-outing a screw cost. I have the EZ kit, but I was afraid if I kept trying to fix it, i'd be a crapload worse. Any ideas on this? Is it expensive for a shop to remove half a screw? Still trying to figure out the leak too. On a happy note, I'm installing my PIAA Super Extreme white H4 bulbs today in my H4 conversions I just got last week. Thanks for all the help guys, any further info, comments are definately welcomed!-Galen

EDIT: Last oil change I did I put in 4.5 qts instead of 4 on accident. I checked the oil today and it was full; so maybe the excess oil was letting out.
