I took my car to a shop for a clutch job. Hey, I had no choice because my friend and I already tried changing the clutch but we couldn't jack the car high enough. I have no garage and my driveway is retarded. The problem with my car was that the clutch pedal went out, and I drove it for like 35 miles without a clutch (no grinding though). When I checked my clutch fluid reservoir, it turned out to be dry empty. My friend and I tried to rebleed it and the slave cylinder push rod came off. We were getting nowhere because apparently there's a lot of air trapped in the system. So that's when I decided to take it to a shop.
The shop installed new master/slave cylinder, new clutch fork and pivot ball/bearing on the transmission, and my own clutch kit.
Total was $487.50 for labor, $174 for parts, plus tax. $675 in all plus my own clutch kit which was $127.
Anyway, when I picked my car up, they told me they weren't able to test drive it because my car was leaking oil. They were kind enough to show me where the leak was coming from with their lift, and it turned out to be the front crank/timing seal.
My car wasn't leaking oil when it left my house, so I don't know what happened. They've had my car for a week. My question is it possible that maybe the shop made a blunder when they changed my clutch master/slave cylinder??
Also, how hard is it to change the seal?
