Oil??Sure it wasn't just black crud(ie dirt)? If so, that is normal.

Yup, normal, comes from the PCV valve system at the bottom of the plenum and is fed from the drivers side exhaust valve cover. Instead of there being an oil catch can, the stock system recirculates it back into the intake and is burnt back out through the system.

*shrug* It works, that is all that matters but some people bypass all that by utilizing a catch can. If you are making mild power, I would just keep up the normal stock system. If your oil pressure rises beyond stock measure constantly may want to consider the second option of installing a catch can.

Just a thought.

Which chemicle cleans the dirt that the manifold has accumilated over the years. I was told carborator cleaner but i would rather get a second opinion on that.

Or any top engine cleaner.

The longer it soaks, the more it'll dissolve.

If just cleaning exterior of intake, I like to use Carb cleaner, a sponge with a rough side to it and a brillo pad to shine out the aluminum (or as the british would say A-LO-MIN-IUM).

If wanting to clean the entire intake in/out. Strip everything off of it, degrease the whole SOB, power wash it with a high pressure wash, sandblast it and then blow it off with a high pressure air nozzle in and out. Reinstall parts and you got one clean stock intake.
