Hey guys I have been chasing a miss.In the process of removing a plug I found a substantial amount of oil in the hole leading down to the plug.It was all held above the cylinder by the plug, and the plug was not even fouled.Has anyone seen this before?

Sounds like a valve cover leak. Do you smell oil when the engine is warm?

Most times VC leaks seem to leak around the spark plug area before they leak on the exhaust...

I witnessed the same when I last changed spark plugs. This is a common problem. I believe the only fix is to use RTV sealant as there is no valve cover gasket available? Others may wish to chime in.

RTV was used on the 90-93... 94+ use a rubber gasket with RTV only in the "half moon" areas...

Didnt the 90-93 have those half moons somewhere?? Like around the spark plug holes or something?

The half moons are in the same place as on the later models, just not integrated in a larger gasket. There are also some o-rings that fit in near where the two (or three?) bolts hold the center of the rocker cover on to the head...
