According to my AVCR this occured at .6kg/cm^3(6psi) and 5k rpms.

I come off the gas to slow down and i hear a pop and no BOV. I think i just blew an IC pipe so i limp back to my place a good 100yds. I pull in a spot and i quickly check the usual pipe with a feel but dont look. At first i didnt feel that it was off but i was in a hurry. (i looked later and found that it had popped off) I pop the hood to check the other pipes and notice oil all over the outlet of the turbo and some seeping out of the back of the compressor. The oil line on the top was clean and the gravity feed all looked clean. This kinda scared me so i called ITS the people that made the turbo and they said that i could need a new center section, and i coulda sworn he said something about there not being a oil seal, that its a machine seal. I havnt heard of that before.

I took the turbo off of the car today and checked all the IC pipes and the intake pipe for the turbo. The Intake pipe and MAF had a thick coat of oil on the inside of em. the hot pipe from the turbo only had a little bit of oil in it. I took the compressor housing off to inspect further and could see some oil that had collected near the fins.

What kind of shaft play sould i look for? it only moves side to side and just a little bit, and is hard to feel sometimes. I was told when oil is in the center section that that creates a layer on the bearing, riding it of that small shaft play. The turbo has very few miles on it.

I was wondering if you guys had any ideas as to what could have gone wrong. I have a 3an oil feed line and a normal gravity feed back to the oil pan. I was told that i didnt need to run a oil restrictor because it was already a small 3an line. Im at a loss as to what could have caused this. In reality it could have been leaking for up to 3 days before as that was the last time i popped my hood to add brake fluid and i always give the key components and harness connections a once over. The IC pipe popping off just caused me to get in there again.

I do not have the valve cover vent routed back to my intake, i have a breather on it.Thanks,~Sam

Maybe it was a seal failure due to balancing? You didn't hear any kind of abnormal scream did you? Improper balancing can cause a scream when the turbo gets up to speed.

No oil coming from the valvecover breather I hope? How does the car run now that the pipe is fixed?
