How's your turbo feeling? Is oil like spitting up out of the tip? Is your oil level really low?

If so, you just sheared the rod that connects the compressor wheel in the center. Well, that's my guess... my bro did that to the K02 turbo on his 1.8T, so now he has a K03 .

could also be dodgy O-rings or one of the head gaskets about to go.Is it overheating at all, is it misfiring a bit?

oh knows!!!

the dreaded blowby....

there's a handful of reasons for it...hell, I think it could come from the turbo too....

If he's losing a lot of oil, fast, and his turbo isn't boost right, then my money's on that.

Of course, he could be lucky and it's a headgasket or something. Dead turbos are expensive.

he could always rebuild it himself...

most places will rebuild (assuming the housing walls and the turbine aren't wasted) for around 300.

if he's got oil coming out the tail pipe like that and not just smoke, I'd bet it's the turbo...I'm far far far from a mechanic though

I would start by doing a compression test. After you do that, pinpoint where it's goin to by doing a leakdown test. That'll give ya a pretty darn good idea where the oil is coming froml
