I did a spark plug and coil pack change on my M with 133k miles on it after I had the 90k mile tune up done a couple of years ago at the dealership only to find out that they did not change the plugs at that time. anyway I got NGK plugs and coil packs and read the how to on how to change the plugs on the M, even though I have done several tune ups on my acuras over the years. Everything went smooth until cylinder #6 ( driver side plug nearest the firewall), when I pulled the plug there was oil on the sleeve. not a lot but enough to coat the old plug, I tried to get as much out as I could before installing the new plug and pack. my question is has this happened to anyone else while doing a tune up? I know some of the oil got into the engine when I started it up smoke came out of the exhaust, so I assumed it was burning it off.

I haven't had that happen but if you have access to the exploded view of the motor, my guess is there is some type of o-ring or gasket for each tube...maybe that one is bad?

From your description, it sounds to me like one of your valve cover tube O-ring seals (I think that is what they are called) is leaking.
From previous post recollections, these seals are not available separately & require replacement of the valve cover itself. (The new valve cover comes with the seals, not cheap, and the cover R&R is a tad labor intensive!

I changed out my plugs at about 100k, and noticed I had a few leaking. I do believe #6 drivers side was the worst, as on yours. I recall some leakage at #3 & 5 tubes as well.

I did not address the issue, I have 129k miles now, I do not see or have any signs that the problem (oil leakage) is getting any worse.
I do not plan on changing the covers out unless oil loss becomes a problem.
If you search, you may find specific info from those that have tangled with these leaky seals.

the valve cover is pretty expensive. the job is not bad but will require some patience. if you need a valve cover, I do have one. let me know

thanks for all of the replies I test drove the car today no burning or smoke and she sounds so much better with the new plugs and coil packs, and the Injen CAI I just installed. I will monitor the cylinder and if no more issues arise I will most likely just ride it out since the car only moves maybe 1500 miles a year or so.
