I was having the same issue prior to me installing the catch can.CakeEater wrote:Maybe the reason you have no oil in the catch can is because it is indeed a terrible design and you have alot of oil just flowing back into the intake....
Remove the catch can and see what happens.
You are having an issue with your turbocharger. Either you're over-oiling it or your return line is kinked, but the issue is in the snail.Ca_Silvia wrote:I have been fighting this since before i installed my 2871. On track days ecspecially, i get oil in my air filter, enough to start leaking out. That plus i have considerable oil in the intercooler pipes.
Ive googled this issue apparently it suggests blow-by, but i have been running a home depot catch can for 2 months now and not a single drop has acumilated.
Is it something else besides blow by or is it a terrible catch can design?
I used the FR sport SS line which have the oil restrictor built in so i doubt its that.
Any ideas?
If it turns out that i am supplying it to much oil and i am already running a restrictor, what are my options?boost_boy wrote:You are having an issue with your turbocharger. Either you're over-oiling it or your return line is kinked, but the issue is in the snail.
Dee
What size restrictor are you using? If your turbo didn't come with a built-in restrictor, then it's best to follow the manufacturers recommendation of what restrictor best suits your turbocharger.Ca_Silvia wrote:I have 2 catch cans, 1 for intake and exhaust, the exhaust one is running from the valve cover to CC then to the intake pipe after the AFM.
Im going to remove the 90* i have in my current oil return and see how she likes that. Ill let everyone know if it solves the problem.
