So after some reading, ive decided i think its best(please correct me if im wrong) to run a 15w50 weight in the summer

so im gonna attempt to change whatever is currenlty in there(lube shop did the last change) to some Mobil1 15x50

AAP and Wal-Mart both dont have it, and AAP said they never will. Im not sure if walmart will ever get it in, i doubt anyone really uses that weight around here.

So here is my question, does anyone know where I can get 4qts of Mobil1 15w50 or something close to that "quality" like redline or something? I'd rather not buy offline if I can, just to avoid paying for shipping and having to wait for it.

Thanks

never heard of kragens, and the Napa here is useless....its literally a shed with a parking lot

if your really serious about it order a case from somewhere. you will need more in a month or so depending on how you baby your car.

Also if you havent been running Zmax, you should. It is very nice to turbo motors and because its in the oil it can also improve turbo temps and seals as well.

I was just reading about Zmax and it says it's not an additive to oil, but then it mentions something about absorbing into the metal???? Seals better??? It mentions both of those but it does not tell you how it does that. I think it's the marketing and mental thing making consumers think that it has improved something but it really has not...I've never used it and including other millions of people and their cars are still running tip top shape.

Stick with good oil and you don't ever have to add anything!

I use walmart brand full synthetic. It is rated very very well as some major company makes the oil for them. I believe it was rated just a hair below Mobil1

Rotella T? My buddy uses that for his olds(body) grand national motor. He says it's dirt cheap and works just as good as redline, maybe even better considering the price. My next oil change I'm gonna use it.

yea and i used to put amsoil in my cars, my previous z32 tt and my sr redtop but it doesn't seem to last to long on turbo engines. once i put it in for the most part the first day or two the engine runs as smooth has ever, but then after a couple of days it seems to run like normal oil or even rougher at times with a weird idle, and this was on two seperate occasions, the z32 and s13 sr. But when i install it on NA engines, it runs perfect until the next change. for that money i rather get mobil 1 or something, i just use regular oil for my S14 sr now and change it more frequently thats all.

I highly doubt that oil tore apart your friends engine. You'll have to prove it to me. Not trying to be an ***, but you can't just say Royal Purple is bad unless you have proof. There was probably other factors at play beyond you and your friends knowledge when it happened. I don't use it because I like Redline better, but that stuff is a little exspensive so I'm switching to the cheap Rotella T synthetic, so you won't hurt my feelings if you prove RP too be bad.

it didnt literally tear it apart

prior to RP it had RL and was fine..RP resulted in worse gas mileage, the car was sluggish and a few other things he had mentioned...then changed to Mobil1 for 1500 and was fine, then RL again and was fine....thats his claim

the synchromax is the shizzle though

Used RP in my stolen fastback. Brother also using RP with no issues.

Anyway back to the original issue of 15w50 oil...why do you think you need 15w50 anyway? I know some parts of the country doesn't carry it because it never gets hot enough to use that. Around here in the desert 15w50 oil can be found on every shelf in every auto parts store year round.

We see around 100-115 degrees here like three quarters of the summer into early autumn every year. Gets that hot here and all my friends including I run 5w30 or 10w30 as recommended by the car manufacturer only.
