Ok so I have a Autometer 2 5/8th Procomp oil gauge, it's mechanical (oil has to be pumped to it for it to read) I don't have anything except the gauge itself, how do I hook this thing up to the SR > ?

Those guages arnt supposed to be used for internal use in the car. But o hook it up you will need either a T for the oil sending unit or a sandwich fitting for the oil filter. The T will be threaded int he block and the line with thread into the T along with the Sending unit (the stock on). A Sandwich fitting goes infront of the oil filter and offers several tap in spots for oil fittings.

Also you will need some hard line or high pressure plastic line or some kind of high pressure line cause at start up before oil has heated up the pressure can get up to 80-90 psi. Once warm though pressure only gets to about 50 under load.

I think you would be better off with the electrical oil pressure gauge. Its what i have and is much easier.

The electric guages are easier but the mechanical are more acurate.. Yah I already know about using metal tubeing for the line but where can I get the Fitting?

Take the stock oil sending unit out of the block. Its located right below the Oil Filter. Then get a rid to a Parts store or Home improvment store. Take the fittiing and find the thread pitch and size and get a T the same Size and Pitch.

Or if your lucky like me I have a company locally that makes nothing but coustom high pressure fittings and coustom steel braided lines.

stay away from those brass Ts found at local plumbing section... unless you want those brass Ts to break and say bye bye your motor...

I mean your HG is about to blow... you dont want trashed bottom end right?

The reason why brass is a bad choice is because brass is very weak and anything that goes on an engine will be subjected to a massive dynamic load from all the vibration which means after while they will eventually break and oil will spit out everywhere and buy buy SR.

You want to either go with a sandwich adapter or a stainless steel adapter like the ones sold by nsport (that's what I have)

BTW, the thread on the block for the oil pressure switch is 1/8 BSPT not NPT. so if you try to fit 1/8 NPT (which comes with the install kit) it will thread it a little bit then won't go in any more. Keep that in mind.
