Went to get an oil filter from NAPA. They gave me a Wix 15300 which is 4 1/8" long .The original filter is 5 1/4" long. What is the correct part number?

Looks like they inverted the numbers.

Gemmer,

Try WIX part number 51302* this should work if you have the top "Piece-Filter Distance Element" other wise you will want a longer oil filter element. So both the short and tall filter elements from CARQUEST are 85302(tall) and 85300 (short). Sorry do not know the long filter part number for WIX.

*I see Rogue One's part number above, so definitely double check this one. I think my one '65 might has the long filter/no distance-piece. You'd think the part number would somewhat be the same even though they are a different brand.

Thanks to both of you, great help.
Truckie,photos help a bunch.
I am missing both the top washer that goes under the spring and the rubber spacer. I can make a new washer and think I can get by without the rubber spacer.
Any thoughts on a replacement hard rubber washer that goes up into the recess of the shaft. Mine's pretty worn out and I'm not sure I'll get a seal.
The other option is to not worry about the stock filter since my truck has a Frantz toilet paper filter installed.

Check VB (page 124, your top washer is here too) or Moss Motors for this piece under the MGA or early 3xMainBearing MBG. VB is usually sold out on this one. Other option is to head to the hardware store and look in the plumbing supply or in the lamp repair section. I've been successful with ACE, just take your complete oil filter assembly for exact fitment.
