And for those who haven't checked with their local parts stores, it's the same filter as on the 3.5L V6 Maxima.

Got one. Man, that's a teeny filter.

Had to get a new filter wrench because the two I had were too big. Got the end cap type with the 1/4 inch socket. Works great. 4 qts of fresh Mobil 1.

Ahhhh...

Yeah, I think Nissan does this on purpose. There is at least one other Nissan engine (I think it's the QR from the 4 cyl Altima and Sentra SE-R) that uses the same filter. Smart move on Nissan's part.

Any idea who makes the Nissan-branded filter? I'm wondering because Honda for instance, uses a rebranded Fram filter for the current Accord.

While we're on the subject, I was wondering.

Should I be replacing the oil drain plug everytime I change the oil.

This isn't my first car and I've always changed the oil in my vehicles myself however, i read somewhere that the oil drain plug should be changed with every oil change.

when i looked around the v6 filter were the only one that work. So if you found one for a 350z, go a head and use it, that what i did.

I'll go a little further than "every so often" and say every oil change. Crush rings are so inexpensive... usually only about a buck, give or take a few cents... that it makes sense in the realm of better safe than sorry to just buy 20 or so, and keep em around for oil changes.

unless your like me, and you end up getting a magnitic drain bolt. i did my own oil change at the shop i work for, and they had tons of the magnitic bolts, so i grab one, and installed it, i dont know if it works or not, but it was cheap, so i went what the heck.

Has anyone heard of this special adapter for oil filters? It is a magnet, and attracts all the magnetic particles that could cause harm to your engine. They were selling them on another forum, I think the Mustang Forum I belong to. I will have to find it, it looks like it is something that would actually work not some bs. I will find the link and post it on here so you guys can see it and tell me what you think.

Well, there's more that can damage your engine than simply magnetic or metallic particles. A good filter to begin with is the cure to these woes.

I've seen magnetic drain plugs before, but I hadn't heard of magnetic filters.I suspect the drain plug would do more good, since the magnetic particles are likely to sink to the bottom of the pan and not circulate with the rest of the oil.
