was just wondering your how you guys get your oil filters out. its way tight in there. we tried driving a screw driver in it to break it loose but that didnt work due to the lack of room so any help would greatly be appricated.

yea, it can be a pain in the but. I ended up takin the intake manifold bracket off and used adjustable pliers to squeeze the end of the filter. It took a little more elbow greese after that and it came off.

I'd definitly invest in an oil relocation kit for my next oil change.

also they make those oil filter wrenchs that go around the top of the oil filter and then a rachet snaps into that...pretty helpful..you can pick them up at your local auto parts store or even wal-mart

Best way to go IMO.

I buy K&N filters for the 1" nut they put on the end of the filter.

Start lifting weights. I just twist mine off if its a little snug i use some grip rubber ( crap old ladies use to help twist off jar tops ) and poof its off.

if you don't remove the bracket the easiest way to get it off is from the top

ya about the lifting weights thing ahhaha ya i would like to see you take it off. i got the socket that goes on the end and almost broke that it was so tight. the little rubber gasket thats usally sticks out alittle was completly flush because they had tightend the hell out of it.

I had to use a scribe (welding tool, kinda like a tiny screwdriver with a pointed tip on the end) to get the original oil filter off. I just stabbed it and did 1/4 turn everytime till it came off. I found 2 rubber oil rings on the filter when I finally got it off (hmm, maybe the reason I got a super low-mileage-brand-new-looking-SR)!! Since I swapped I have only used "hand-power" to take mine off. I don't know if people realize this or not so I will say it now. When putting your oil-filter on, tighten it to the point where it is "firm" and go 3/4 of a turn more. There is no need for it to be torqued on there to 80 gajillion ft. lbs. Also make sure when you pull the oil filter off that there is still a rubber ring on the filter so it's not attached to the block like the guy who had mine before me.

I use a belt it works fine fromt he bottom no need to remove anithing. I use it to break it loose and then I can just take it out by hand. no need for stabbing, wrenching, welding, tapping, or removing anithing.
