I saw that this has been discussed on the Infiniti Mechanic forum, but thought I might get more response here.

My arms are just too damn stubby to get in there and turn that filter. But, I still want to be able to change it on my own. So, I think a relocation would be my best bet.

Has anyone successfully relocated their oil filter without moving the battery to the trunk? If so, any chance you could post some pics?

I looked up some options on our NICO partners. But, I didn't find anything specific to the Q... I am sure there is a Nissan universal system that would work, but I don't feel confident enough my knowledge to make that decision on my own.

On the original thread there was some mention of kits running $40-60. Anything like that still available. Also, would this be a good chance to introduce an oil cooler?

anything for the300ZX will work.....

you can see where squeefoo put his... Youd want to put it somewhere on the drivers side, to keep it as close as possible to the oil filter thing... He said that he moved his carbon canister a little.....

That was a lot of work! Took me about a week at a few hours each night.

Way up here in the temperate zone, I personally think an oil cooler is overkill. Oil has a "comfort zone" and I believe it keeps it below that level... besides with that huge filter and the lines I now have an 8 Quart system.

While foregoing the side of this question ripe with the potential for double-entendres (...and hoping you'll edit your question to something less likely to get star billing emblazoned across someone's signature, punctuated with smileys like this: )

No, I looked at everything, and found this the least compromising safety wise, (long hoses, chafing, more movement in a hot environment = more fatigue, ETC.) and having to move things like the alarm horn, cruise control solenoid (which might turn into a major fiasco itself w/soldering and not binding the cable).

Also comes the question of positioning the filter -sideways? gasket up? down?I haven't looked with that in mind for awhile but gasket up at the backside of the drivers strut tower might have enough room (at about 10 o'clock -hood open -behind the FSTB (not a flat surface either! )). The other side on a 90 - 93 is out of the question -unless the battery gets moved. (sideways?)I hoped to put mine in with the least hassle and potential for oil pressure compromise -believe it or not.
