Not a clue, but the standard Purolator PureOne oil filter is dope. My oil stays nice and golden yellow between oil changes. Part # PL24457 and they do not carry them at Auto Zone, so you'll have to hit up Advance or CarQuest or something.

I heard something about a massive one from a mid-late 80s chevy truck fitting, but I cannot confirm.

Oh and Welcome to NICO!! You should introduce yourself.

Pending physical test fit - the common full size ford filter should fit - and holds a full quart by itself... That would be the fram PH8A, stp S8A, bosch 3500, motorcraft FL1A, mobil M1-301, k&n HP-3001 etc. Its about 2/3 inch larger diameter, and about an inch longer... same threads though

I run a Mobil1 M-301 (Purolator 3001 cross) from a SBF. Much bigger and fits.

I run the ...I think Fram toughguard or something...the orange one dipped in that rhinolining stuff...to help you unscrew it. The K&N unit has a nice nut on the end to help unscrew it as well.

Biggest problem with Fram from my research is that you can get way better quality for less money. It's not that Fram is a particularly bad filter, just not really cost effective compared to other things on the market. Why spend more on a potentially worse design? Exactly. I think the whole "Fram made my engine blow up" mentality is a bit over-doing it imo, but what do I know. Someone very may well have lost an engine due to one. Whatever, no skin off my back. I don't run them.

I've actually been doing research about this. I really want to relocate my filter so it's really visible and get some kind of obnoxious, Nascar type monstrosity. I was thinking the Wix 51515R or something like that. It's like 5"+ tall, black, and says "RACING" on it. That would make my day.

One thing, does CA18DET use a bypass valve in the filter or in the block? I seem to remember some kind of ball/check valve in the block itself whenever I had it pulled apart. But I wasn't sure. I'm asking because I'm getting valvetrain noise on cold start. Right now I'm using a KA filter, Bosch 3400. It doesn't have a bypass. So could that be causing the noisy valvetrain? Or maybe just a crappy anti-drainback valve design that leaks. Lol

Can anyone recommend a nice, big, NASCAR looking filter that isn't junk? Fram HP1 would fit the bill, but eh, Fram. And the Wix I mentioned earlier I'd have to order, no one stocks them around me.

To the OP, what you can do is try and find 3/4"-16 thread pitch filters in similar diameter and that should work providing there's enough clearance for the added length. Also I would like someone to verify if the CA18DET needs a bypass valve in the filter itself because we kinda need to know that if we want to find an alt. filter.
