oil filter compatibility

I have a 2005 altima 3.5 se. When ever I change the oil I always use the puralator filter for the 3.5. The filter for the 2.5 has a bigger capacity. Would it be safe to use the 2.5 filter on my 3.5? What I'm unsure of is if the filter relief valve would be the same pressures.
