I am about due for my Gs first oil and filter change. How difficult a job is this and do I have to replace the oil drain plug gasket every oil and filter change ?

Welcome aboard!

Definitely recommend replacing the copper crush gasket at each oil change - it's cheap insurance. OEM filters only for best results. The G is an easy car to do the oil change on, but the dealer's pretty inexpensive... Good idea for a brand new car.
