That Bolt there circled in red... when removed, there is a spring that comes out with it... what is the purpose of that spring and if removed... what are the consequences?

There is a ball-bearing inside there. I believe it has to do with your oil pressure. I took mine apart to clean it out. The spring is definitely needed.

Hmm... why do you say it's definitely needed? Could it be some type of relief valve? I took my spring out so I could fit my oil temp probe in the oil sender outlet... i noticed that these spring things are also on the transmission housing.

jkerr, did you take your spring out? Everything seem normal... ?

edit : I think some pressure exerts itself on the ball bearing and in turn, compresses the spring and lets oil come through the hole that the bearing sits on top of.... but what the heck is it for?! Maybe I can wedge the probe between the spring coils and keep that sucker in there. I wish someone knew it's true purpose.

You should give credit to whoever picture that is (yeah its mine) and ask him if its okay to use.

Just Kidding.Anyways, I put my oil temp sensor in that location. I had to to use a washer and a rubber ring (from a hose) because my fitting was too long. Overall it tightened and works (hopefully).

BTW, the knock sensor I have on there was cut off. Where is it connected on the harness (pictures would help).

You can always use a sandwhich adapter for other lines.

I got a question, is that assembly the part that has the allen nuts on it interchangeable with a USDM part?

What happened, was I was installing my relocation kit...i over torqued it and the threaded part snapped off. Can I source just that assemply part (not sure if that's what its called)

That would be the pressure relief valve if the filter becomes clogged it allows flow to the motor rather than starving it. I would NOT reccomend removing it.

OK, I looked in the "parts guide", i think the 3rd page. My best guess is the following:

Oil filter bracket assembly Jan 1991 - Dec 1998 15238-52F01

Is this correct? and is this for a SR20DE (95 sentra se-r)?
