So i've searched the CA forums because i wanted to know what size fitting i'd need to mate up to the oil restrictor block on the block.. i came up with two diff measurements and something about the stock oil restrictor/fitting on the block being changed later in 1992 because the old one cause turbo starvation or something. anyway...

i've got a turbonetics t3/t4 and i was wondering if i should mate it to the stock oil restrictor on the block or take that out, tap the hole and buy a brand new and larger restrictor? Also, what diameter ss braided line should i buy? I've found all different sized lines and two different diamter restrictors but no answer on what i should use on my particular application. I've spent a lot of money on my parts and i don't have any left to replace anything if i break it. oh yeah. and if i should use the stock oil restrictor then what fitting do i need to screw into it, for sure?

on a side note. i think my turbo has a small in line oil filter built in or something. It's a brass femail fitting threaded in the top of the turbo and in the bottom of the fitting there is a small silver metal cube. kinda looks like its made from an uber fine mesh. anyone have any experience with these?

I think the issues being had with these restrictors early on had to do with people not changing their oil. If oil is fresh and clean, I coudlnt see it being a problem. The guys in the UK drill them out to 2 mm in most cases, depending on what turbo they use. Im going to be running a ball bearing t28, with a stainless braided oil line, and I left the restrictor standard apart from cleaning it up real good.

Nice looking CA btw, if thats yours in your avater.

talk to turbonetics see what they say.

The thread on the block restrictor is 12Mx1.0

I have a Earls 12mx1.0 to -4AN adaptor with a 4AN hose to a GT28R.

What I'm gonna do is eliminate the block restrictor and just use a 1/8BSPT Male to 1/8NPT Female adaptor with a 90* 1/8 NPT to -4AN so that way I have 1 restrictor which will be on the turbo.

as long as you have the proper restrictor it shouldnt matter, even most of the restrictors come in 4AN not to mention ATP Turbo makes oil feed lines in 4AN only.

on a t3/t4 run a -3 line with no restrictor if you were running -4 i would say a restrictor.
