I just completed a timing chain job on my 89 240sx SOHC and was slightly worried about the o ring for the oil pickup staying in place while I was putting it in. When I got everything back together and started the car up everything seems fine, but my oil light comes on. Funny thing is that it is not on at idle and seems to get brighter as the rpm's go up. I read a post I found while searching that leads me to believe I might have a ptroblem with my sending unit or wiring. The car sounds fine and seems to be moving oil. I have reved it up to 6 grand a couple times and do not here any ticking, nothing odd at all. Any help would be appreciated on the location of that sending unit or any other ideas. Thanks

Measure the oil pressure with a temporary pressure gauge to determine if everything is OK or if there really is an oiling problem.

You would remove the oil sensor which is located next to the oil filter and install the mechanical oil pressure gauge in it's place; you may need to get an 1/8 BSPT to 1/8 NPT adapter to hook up the gauge. With the engine fully warmed up, the pressure should be as follows:idle - at least 11 psi3000 RPM - 60 to 70 psi
