2009 - 155,000 miles

My daughter's car has a slight leak in the drain plug. Maybe 1-2" oil stain in the driveway daily.
Looked at auto stores and they have several options.

1) simply add a copper washer
2) new drain plug with plastic(?) washer - See picture below

I am a stickler for keeping things original.
Do either of these options work? Or should I just replace the oil pan and get a new drain plug without washers?

I just changed the oil in my daughter's car. I used a solid copper washer on the drain plug. It looks like the previous one was a crushable copper washer. I had both, but I went with the solid. The drain plug had a solid surface, not an embedded o-ring. I think either copper washer would be fine. Might be worth grabbing a new drain plug with a copper washer. Auto Zone will have a variety pack of materials in the same size. Or just grab some copper washers from Amazon like I did. I wouldn't replace the oil pan until you try some cheaper options.

The "original" for our 2011 according to NPD is a crushable washer. https://www.nissanpartsdeal.com/parts/n ... WD;5=25SV)

My VW would put a Harley to shame.

You need a seal washer as the threads are just straight cut M12x1.25mm and NOT a tapered self sealing thread.
I like the Nissan OEM style myself but any 12mm ID washer should work, aluminum or copper.
I haven't had much luck with the rubber/plastic ones though.

OK, so what I am getting so far is.... get a new plug and use COPPER washer.

So this means, I probably will need to change washer after every oil change?

Not sure if you need a new plug if it threads into the pan nicely and the sealing face of the head is clean and flat.
I personally replace the washer each oil change as I bought a bag of 50, years ago for a few dollars.
Rockauto sell them for about $0.50 each and use discount code 75575DC4DB01D5 for 5% off.

The cost of a plug isn't great if you want to start everything fresh. If you are willing to, use a new copper washer on the current drain plug after an oil change. If it leaks, drain the fresh oil out into a clean container and reuse it when you put a new drain plug and washer in. Copper and aluminum washers shouldn't be reused, but they are dirt cheap in the grand scheme of things. I prefer copper as I have had some minor leaks with aluminum.
