2004 Nissan Pathfinder 4 WD 3.5 L / auto. Engine Oil pan has a unique shape to c  lear front axle...the lowest point of the pan appears to be just behind the right front axle. It has what appears to be a drain plug, but it has a small weld securing it...easily broken I'm sure. Is that it? Wondering if dealers change oil by sucking it out the dipstick or am I missing the actual plug somewhere else. the filter is in front and I cut a small but efficient opening in the plastic pan so I can get the filter out without removing the 8 bolts holding the dust cover in place each time. Oil change about to begin so thanks for a rapid reply

Was unaware of Nissan pathfinder upper/ lower 0il pan. Welded drain bolt was actually some blue gasket seal covered with 'soot' that look quite a bit as if was welded at a spot to prevent being opened. An exploded assembly at another site solved the mystery of the two part oil pan. Unusual to see the drainplug so far towards the transmission in and part of a small 'oil pan' attached to a larger oil pan. I suppose the oil pump occupies the driver side half of the oval shaped sump.
Nothing like this on my old datsun pick-up. Oil change is done

The blue "seal" is an anti-tamper smear used by some quick lubes to show that a manager checked the work and found it to be correct, and to prevent an unscrupulous customer from loosening the drain plug, blowing their engine and claiming the shop in error and trying to win a new engine on their dime.

Welcome to NICO!
