God, no matter what i do, i can't get this thing off. I went and bought a pair of vise grips and a drain plug since i ended up stripping it with the sockets. It's on there so tight the vise grips do nothing but round the head off even worse. I've sprayed WD40, went at it with plyers, vice grips, and anything else, i tried hammering the grips while they were on. It won't budge at all. Does anyone else have any ideas of what else i can do to get this thing off?? I can't really afford to have someone put another oil pan on.

PB lubricant spray will virtually loosin anything from rusted bolts, screws, anything! You can pick it up at a local hardware store, thats the only other thing I can think off.

SOAK it in WD-40 or some other penetrating lubricant and let it sit overnight.

You could also drill it out if worst comes to worst.

****... it looks like im going to have to get another oil pan. I nearly stripped that bolt down to a stub w/ the 2 pairs of vice grips i have. It didn't move a millimeter either. If anyone could tell me exactly how i would be able to drill that bolt out, that'd be cool, i don't have a blow torch so i can't try that.

Cool, my mom acually mentioned something from sears like that. I might give it a try, but can it handle a ton of torque (that damn nut is on tight) what ever it is? I hope it's no piece of **** Gator Grip lol

why didn't you use the right tool in the first place? and did you turn the bolt counter-clockwise?

if all else fails and you can't get the bolt out, you will have to pull the oil pan out with the oil still in the pan... that'll be fun :D

and expect around 6 hrs of labor if you know what your doing.. and about 2 or three days if you never pulled out the oil pan.

Yes i know which way to turn the bolt (counter clockwise)

did the bolt jump threads or something?

if it was torqued too tight or something, you could use 2 wrenches to get it open...just use the closed end of the wrench on the bolt, then get a bigger wrench and leverage it on the wrench holding the bolt and try to torque it open....if it's just over-torqued, if it's rusted or the threads jumped, then you'll prolly have to drill it or something

Nope, i couldn't try that, the head of the plug is rounded off so bad, i was scraping piece of it away with the visegrips. Anyways, could someone explain to me how i can drill it out? It seems like the only option i have besides getting the oil pan changed. Like what kind and size of a drill bit, and what should i do and look out for when drilling it out?? Thanks

I would save myself the headache and pull out the oil pan. Then you can decide if you want to tap the bolt out or get a new pan.

If you want to remove your pan, you will need to remove the under sway bar and bell housing on the transmission.

The easiest way I removed the pan was to loosen the mounts and jack up the engine until the pan slid out.
