My block is at the machine shop. The machinist says that now is the perfect time to drill the block for the turbo's oil drain.

Where do I drill?

Any pics?

how are we supposed to know that for you? you have to take into account on where your turbo is going to end up sitting, and the best possible flow for your return line. drain it somewhere that wont interfere with your spinning crank. that pretty much equates to the very lowest part on your block. what turbo/mani are you running?

Drain it in the pan--maybe they want to tap it for oil line --> TO the turbo? then you dont have to run it off the filter block.

Is for a T3/t4 turbo.I know that an engine builder here used to make a permanent fitting in the block for oil drain.I have marked several spots on the block but wanted to hear your opinions.I already have an oil pan prepped. I think that a drain fitting within the block is easier and clenaer.

I'm not sure if anyone here has tried this or not, but I think that it could be done safely and cleanly if you select the proper location.I've personnally helped a friend of mine drill and tap an oil drain into a volvo block without any drama. The engine was N/A and he turboed it. All volvo turbo engines (from what I've seen) have the oil drain line going into the block, not the pan. The reason for this is that the engine sits on a 30 degree angle to allow the engine to be mounted lower in the car. This in effect cuts the oil pan at a similar angle and doesn't allow a place to drill and tap the pan. Can you post some pics of the spots you have marked?

All stock Nissan turbo motors have a block return. It's the best way since you will never be below the oil level in the sump. You can drill anywhere that doesn't cut through an existing oil jacket.

Are you tapping the hole or welding the block?

Whatever option is better.Personally, I think that tapping is better. The builder that I was refering is Greaser. Dunno his whereabouts right now.

I am just looking at my options, so I am open to opinions, sugestions etc. Will make another post but for oil supply, right now I have 2 options but the machinist founs another one (again check other post)
