Can you post pics of the engine and where you are talking about?

There should be one engine oil dipstick on the drivers, not sure why yours is on the passenger side or how that even happened. Since you have a 5 speed there won't be a transmission dipstick.

There's mention of an engine swap, probably a VG30DE from a J30, but wouldn't they first swap the oil pan and pick-up? Not sure how accurate the original J30 dipstick/location is with the 300ZX oil pan.

I'm pretty sure the VG30DE in the Z32 and J30 were the same, but not sure about the oil pan/dipstick/pick-up. Like you said, they should have swapped the oil pan because the J30 one might not fit with the Z32 suspension/steering underneath. If it was swapped though, maybe the J30 VG30DE has the dipstick hole on the other side? Not sure where the JDM dipstick tube was either.

Either way, what is the reason you need to change the oil dipstick tube anyway?

Yeah post some pics if you can, it will help a lot.

Did you find that on JDM Engine Depot? I saw that same combo for the same price a few weeks ago

If you can do alot of the work yourself and are up for the swap then go for it, but most people will tell you that it costs more to swap an NA to TT then to just start with a factory TT and fix it up/build it up. Many people who swap do it just to say they did/could because it's awesome to accomplish stuff like that. Plus it MIGHT turn out to be slightly cheaper but it depends what all you do. The health of that JDM engine is really uncertain, and you won't be able to do a compression test until after you buy it. You'll need to swap a bunch of other things besides just the engine/trans, including making space for the intercoolers and piping.
