I'd like to install an oil cooler in my S13, I have the Greddy oil pan and relocation kit with sandwich adapter. I tried to find the greddy oil cooler kit but haven't had any luck so far.

Can anyone tell me what size fittings I'd need to do a custom install, and where to run them from and to? I think there are 3 or 4 ports by the filter, 2 on the sandwich adapter, and one or 2 on the pan but I'm not sure. Where should I tap in for an oil cooler?

On the sandwitch adapter, run both IN and OUT lines. Use StailessSteel AN lines. 8AN is most likely as the ports are probably 1/2in.Go with Mocal or Setrab oil cooler, they are waaay better than Greddy and are track proven all over the world.

I agree completely with him, dont even bother with the Greddy Oil cooler as it's just a repackaged Earl's oil cooler, really good but waaaay overpriced. You best bet is go to like summitracing or other and but a Setrab, Mocal, Earl's or any other quality oil cooler. Like he said, the fittings on the sandwich adapter are 1/2 so you should run either 8AN or 10AN lines. So for parts wise, you would need to find a suitable oil cooler, 4 1/2 to AN adapters for the sandwich block and oil filter relocation block, 6 AN straight or angled hose ends, maybe 10 feet or so of stainless line, and 2 adapters for the oil cooler if you need them.

I think even using quality parts, everything should come out to less than 200 dollars which is much much less than the greddy kits

GripR, Id get the longer one because i think it would take longer for the oil to get from one side to the other, this means that it would cool off more before it went back into the motor. thats just my 2 cents.

sandwich plate can be gotten from

http://www.racerwholesaleparts.com

mocal sandwitch plate (search for it in the index on teh site), and you need to order teh right size, just find out what the tread pattern is, cause i cant remember what it is right now.

btu thats where i got my palte from, it has a built in thermostat so teh cooler has flow with oil temps above 180 deg. i believe.

double check that link... unless the shop just sold their domain name to an advertiser, it's not right.

why would you need a sandwich adapter if you already have the greddy relocation kit??

The point of using a sandwich plate is to still usa an oilcooler, but not all the time. The plate has a built in thermostate to only allow flow to the cooler when temps get above 180 (on track conditions), whereas during warm up the oil has plenty of time to warm up so that everything can get warmed up evenly and thuroughly before cooling the oil.

Basically, it allows the cooler to cool the oil only when its needed, not all the time.

Here is my Sandwich plate used on my adapter kit all gotten from the same link.
